The Ring (Engagement)

Last year October, my fiance proposed and gave me an engagement ring. Barely expected that a dinner and night out with friends, would result to a proposal planned by my long time partner (5-years).

Currently on our 7th month of being engaged and in 2 months time would be our wedding. Yehey!! Next chapter getting near. ☺ But in every big day planned, there is a certain something or challenge that can come in the way. For me, a few months ago my engagement ring cracked. I was just typing on my laptop at work when I felt a different and rough feeling on my ring finger, I took a look on my finger and noticed that there was a crack on my engagement ring. Seeing it, I freaked out and immediately consulted Google (by the use of a browser of course  hehehe...)

With that I've learned the reason behind it and what to do. Here are a few reasons behind it:

1. Ring shank is too thin.
  • A shank is the part that goes around your finger. With thin shanks, this have a higher tendency of breaking fast compared to thicker ones.
  • ADVICE: If you have purchased a ring that has a thin shank, you can have it re-shank by your jeweler and make it thick to prevent any future damages. Though this could cost an extra amount depending on your jeweler. Re-shank it soon to avoid gem stones from falling out when damage. But if you have not purchased a ring yet, just avoid buying thin shank rings. Thick is always better.

2. Ring is too large for your finger.
  • Often times we purchase large rings thinking that we may gain weight and become fat, this would make sure that we can still wear our rings despite this situations. It is good to think ahead but not the best thought in mind. Larger rings compared to your finger have a lot of disadvantages aside from damage such as loss or discomfort. With large rings that do not fit, there are tendencies that this could slip out of your finger or can get stuck in everyday things which can damage your ring.
  • ADVICE: Buy a ring that fits your finger. A little allowance is ok to remain comfortable. If your finger size is 6, then you can purchase 6 1/2 or a 7 sized ring but don't go for anything more than that like an 8 or 9. If you gain weight and become fat, making your ring not fit. You have the option to live it there (but this may make it tight and uncomfortable) or remove it for a period of time until it fits back. Think of it as a motivation to loose weight.

3. Lifting of heavy objects.
  • Lifting objects requires force and strength from the body. Using our hands with a ring on it to lift objects, could make this force be applied on our ring. Causing it to break. Remember! A ring is not that firm compared to other objects. It is small and still vulnerable to breakage especially when in contact of large and heavy objects.
  • ADVICE: Avoid lifting heavy objects with your ring on finger. If it is a need to lift a heavy object, you can remove your ring for a short time and keep it safe to avoid loss.

The good news was after several months had my ring replaced (though this wasn't my first option, re-shank was). Relief that this was done, can finally prepare for pre-nuptial photo shoot!

Entourage at Divisoria

Dress and suits for our wedding, all in Divisoria. The cheapest or yet most affordable place to have wedding dress made. Yup, this is where I had mine done. Not ashamed of it cause the quality is just the same as any known designers, except that you need to come prepared on how you want your ideal gown to look like since not all dress makers are talented in designing.

Today I accompanied batch 3 of my entourage, mainly my college friends, to our dress maker to have their measurements taken. Last week, me and Ryan did the same thing, were we accompanied batch 1 and 2 of our entourage to have their measurements taken as well. Talking about hassle, it was slightly difficult for us to have our entourage's measurements taken as to not all their schedules are alike. Had to find a way and this resulted to being every weekend at Divisoria.

Others tell me this is normal for every wedding and that there are more obstacles we may face. This may be true but for now I wouldn't want to focus on these issues but instead I try to think positive and know that God is control. Eventually my worries about my dress and entourages' outfits would come to pass.

Food Taste @ Hizon's Catering

The most important part of reception, the food! Everything that everyone or every guest looks forward too, buffet meal.

Today, just had our food taste with our wedding caterer, Hizon's Catering. But before that, we had to find our way there since it was our first time to go to their head office which was located inside Sansville subdivision, Project 6, Quezon city. On our way there, we slightly got lost. We tried to use Apple Map (app on Iphone) to navigate our way to Hizon's but sadly it wasn't as good as Google Map. Instead we used the good, old fashion ask people around on how to get there. So our 10:00AM scheduled food tasting didn't start on time since we were still trying to find our way to our caterer. After 30 minutes, we found our way to Hizon's and entered a private lot, which to our amazement seemed to be a private family/business property because not only it was were the head office was located but we also saw several small houses which seemed to be where the owner's family live.

We were served different dish variations such as soup, fish, beef, pork, chicken and pasta. We had to choose one from two dishes for each variation. I've heard a lot of people complement about how good Hizon's food was and indeed this was the day that I would learn that what we they were all saying was true. We tried the dishes and enjoyed everything. We choose dishes that were not common to everyday meal. Won't post the names of the dishes we chose since this would be kept as a surprise on the big day. Hehehe...

All I can tell is that the food was worth it and we are sure that we've picked the right caterer. Happiness...

After food taste, next was ceremony set-up. Luckily we got Hizon's Catering as a wedding package offered by our venue, that is why they were also the ones in-charge with designing our ceremony. Glad that my wedding coordinator, Jenny, was with me cause I wouldn't be able to make all these decisions on my own. From table clothing, to wedding aisle, altar and many more.

Also had one of our friends accompany us because of his talent with foods. Sensitive tongue, we tell him was his gift cause he can identify small details that I myself won't even notice. All through out my fiancee, Ryan and his friend, Guy, helped us with every decision making at Hizon's.

Our day did not end with only Hizon's, but we had to look for our hotel accommodation for the day before and after the wedding. Which we found to be successful as well since the hotel we found was near our wedding venue and had great, cozy rooms (to be mentioned after the wedding). To make everything short, we were satisfied with one that we chose because not only it was near the venue but as mentioned the rooms look pretty cozy. Even if it may not be a 5-star hotel, that existed in cities. It was a good enough one, since it was good compared to the other hotels or resorts near the venue.

Last on our agenda was to visit the venue so that our coordinator would have an idea on how it looks like. Our venue is what we loved the most because of it being close to nature. Excited much on how our wedding would be like...87 days left til the big day!
