Marriage Preparation

When getting married there are a lot of things a couple needs to fix before the the big day. We just did one of it, attended "Marriage Preparation seminar" at church. We got a lot of advices on why men and women act the way they do. The seminar made us become aware of the true responsibility of marriage and that it is not just a contract but a covenant with God.

There is no perfect marriage, in fact no one is perfect but only God. We learned that we must forgive 77 time because Jesus told us to.

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times? Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times." -Matthew 18:21-22

When entering into marriage, we are leaving our past responsibility and moving to a new chapter in our life. Facing responsibilities as husband and wife, and starting a Christ-centered family. God appointed men to be the head of the family and women as a helpful partner that encourages her spouse all the way. It may be hard to adjust to one another's differences, but change does not happen instantly. It takes time, prayer and God's guidance.

"Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.  Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything." -Ephesians 5:22-24

To maintain a good relationship, there should be good communication between both partners. A healthy communication avoids conflict and confusion. It also avoids secrets and lies, good communication often takes time, effort and discipline. Discipline in a way that one would take time to listen out one's side and avoid judgement...

Attending this seminar made us learn a lot and how we should be in our marriage. We pray that whatever we learned from this seminar can be applied in our life, cause nothing can be instantly changed but it takes time. With God, it is always possible to change but one step at a time. Just glad that we've finished our 3-day (every Wednesday) session
