In every wedding preparation, one must not forget to process their Marriage License because this serves as an authorization for a couple to marry which is required by law in the Philippines. Ryan and I applied for a Marriage License at Las Piñas because that's where I lived and since I'm under 25, I needed the help of my mom for Parental Advice.
Las Piñas is a city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines or known as NCR. It is the home of the Bamboo Organ church which was built during the Spanish era in the Philippines.
Civil Registry is located inside of Las Piñas city hall, this is where we applied for our Marriage license. We arrived there around 1:00PM and started filling up 4 copies of the application form, which all needed to be hand written. This was very tiring for both of us since we were filling up a Legal sized ( 8 X 13) paper which had a lot of blank lines to fill up, after this my right hand ached (being a right handed person).
The lady in-charge wanted to see both my parents because of me being under 25, but since my parents were under-going legal separation, we were asked an Affidavit instead which my mother had to sign. Under going a 3-day "Marriage Preparation Seminar" at church was an advantage since we do not need to attend any government seminars because our engagement seminar certificate given by Victory Ortigas was enough. In the end, we were able to finish every thing and was advised to return after ten (10) days to claim our Marriage license. What a relief...just a step a way on completing our big day preparations.
2. Cedula (Community Tax Certificate), which can be requested inside city hall.
**Community Tax is computed based employment status. If unemployed, it would cost only Php 5.00. If employed then it would be computed based salary; Php 5.00 basic tax and additional P1.00 for every P1,000.00 gross earnings derived from work during the previous year. ex = P12,000 X 12 = P144,000 = P144 + P5 = P149

Hello, Mitzi! I would just like to ask, my fiance is a foreigner and he could only stay here in the Philippines for a few days. So we were wondering how long does it really take to get the marriage license? You did mention about the 10-day waiting period, but does that include the weekend? Can you give us an idea like when did you apply for the marriage license and then what date it was release? Because my fiance needs to file for a vacation leave at work, but he needs to tell his boss the reason why he has to leave from work that long. Your response would be really appreciated. Thanks.
